CLK 55 queries
Discussion
Have just picked up a 05 CLK 55 cab, having chopped in my Alpina B3S,
Firstly, love the car but aurally it is a bit of a pussycat compared to the Beemer, is it possible to get a `sports exhaust` for it ?
I would like to get hold of a wind deflector but would be reluctant to pay main dealer prices, are they out there for sale ?
Lastly in the service booklet there is a page with a whole series of 3 digit numbers / letters are these the code numbers for the options fitted ? Where can I find out ?
Thanks in advance for any answers.
Regards
Mark

I think Kleemann do an exhaust but I actually got used to the muted roar of the standard system after a while.
Wind deflector is a bit of a nause-its fiddly to fit and you cant use the rear seats if its fitted.Ebay would be a good place for a cut price one.
The codes you refer to relate to the specification of your particular car with different features, optional extras and wheels all having an individual 3 digit code.
Go to the russian MB-club page, and punch in your chassinumber(VIN).
http://old.mbclub.ru/mb/vin/?lng=eng
All digits, including WDB1400********
Or try this page, http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb.asp
Just type in the VIN, and press enter..
The problem with AMG exhausts is the incredible design in the backbox. If you have a look, you'll find it's huge because the exhaust pipe coils back and forth around the inside before finally exiting, so it's good at what it does but means the sound is pretty subdued.
If you can find out whether the W208 and W209 exhausts can be swapped over, I had a custom exhaust built for my old W208 which skipped all the coiling and was much more satisfying to listen to. We could do a deal...
Actually, I'll ask on the MB forums for you.

Are you wanting just a back box to sound meatier? Or full exhaust system?
Off the top of my head Carlsson do one for the 55 AMG cabrio. I am not sure about Kleeman, but not harm in shooting off an email.
