has anybody fitted a DAB radio to their CERB...did it improve the radio reception or is it still rubbish. Does it pick up many station or is it as I suspect still hit and miss as you drive round the UK. I live in Reading so if you live close to me please reply

I have one and it's superb. I do have a glass mount external aerial though, but I am in rural Devon. Mine is a Sony head unit, but I do have a Pure Highway in my taxi with a mag mount (no use on a Cerb!!) which is equally brilliant.

DAB radio came as part of the package in the Cerb I purchased in Feb.

Although I must admit I haven't been listening to the radio that much, I can say that DAB radio reception is equally as crap as normal radio reception. In fact it may be worse, as when the DAB radio signal fades slightly the sound just cuts out completely (on normal radio you might just get a bit of a crackly signal for a few seconds). Then, sometimes minutes later it will turn itself back on again, presumably when the signal is strong enough again.

As I said, I haven't really played with the radio much, so I may be doing something wrong.... but so far its no good.

My DAB reception is as bad as the FM radio. I plan to rip the whole thing out this summer and start again. Surely getting reception can't be that hard?

You all must be doing something wrong!

Seriously, mine is great. The only time it fades out is when you are at the bottom of a deep valley on Exmoor or Dartmoor. Other than that I get all the channels really clearly.

I do think a proper external aerial is the way to go - the crappy stick on the glass inside ones are useless.

See the top of the rear screen here:

My car was fitted with an amazing audio system by Carl Baker when it was new and includes an Alpine DAB receiver. The reception is very good, only occasionally switching over to FM when the signal starts to break up but the car does have a bee-sting aerial on the roof just above the rear windscreen. IMHO it doesn't spoil the curves.

I've got DAB with a hidden aerial (windscreen type one stuck under the passenger side of the dash). Works pretty good. I have a bee sting one to try sometime as well. One part sticks to the window inside and the aerial sticks to the window outside.

Current system works ok from Swindon to Newbury losing signal in the dip up to membury.

Just upgraded my sterio and speakers, and need to sort me aerial too.
How does the aerial fit on the rear window?

The one I've got comes in two parts. A small square plate with the aerial lead to the radio that sticks to the inside of the window, then a small square plate with the beesting aerial out of it that sticks to the outside of the window.

Just not done it yet as I've got to work out the wiring routing.

So I've got the JVC HAL-4 aerial that looks like this:

At the moment I'm running with a HAL-1 stuck under the dash on the passenger side

Only thing is my head unit does not have DAB, so not sure if that jvc aerial is going to be any good?
I will have to pop down to halfords and have a mosey, see what they got.
Routing the aerial will be the next challenge.
