Starting issue
Discussion
Just changed the cap, rotor arm, and plugs, and now it takes forever to start if it dosnt flatten the battery first. Tried the old rotor arm back in and it strted but still took a while could i be right in saying the plug gaps need setting? Didnt set them last time i changed them and was OK, thats whats got me a bit worried. Anybody know the setting for the gap so i can try that. Or any other sugestions would be appreciated.

Hi mate !
Nearly all plugs used to be set to 25 thou (when packed)...in old money.
I believe the gap for RV8 is30mm thou
To be honest I can't really see it being the plugs, even if you have to adjust them slightly.
There is a chance that the rotor has some sort of protective covering on it, which needs cleaning off. We used to rub them on the sidewall of a tyre int olden days.
Next possibility is ignition leads on in wrong order...needs checking, but the engine would then run like a bag of nails IF it managed to get going.
Anything dislodged during the changeover ?
It's going to be something really simple, but I'll let the EFI and electronic ignition experts make some other suggestions.
Good luck - Gra.
