The offside indicator light on the dash doesnt work on my Mk2 Granada, is this an MOT failure?

Afraid so, from the manual-

Note: A 'tell-tale' may be audible or visual, it is not required if one or more direction indicators on each side can be seen by the driver from the driver's seat.

But it would be a right jobsworth that would fail it and it only applies to post 1986 vehicles, not sure what years the MK2 spanned although I had one one on on a W (81) plate, loved it!

Suppose you could argue that the tick of the flasher relay is an audible tell tale??

MK2 spanned 77-85

Have to say any internal signals are never checked over here. Partly as the driver of the car operates the lights, whilst the inpsector checks from outside.

Mine was a a 2.8i with the "business pack" white alloys, recaros etc. God I loved that car, only modern car I have had that came near was an Omega Elite which was vv nice but just not the same. Good luck with the test.

We have just replaced a whole instrument binnacle on a Vivaro because you can't buy the bulb/LED that does the illumination for the indiactors seperately.
£400+ fitting all because the indicator light doesn't flash on the dash and it's an MOT failure...

Thats why I run old cars, they can be fixed easily and usually cheap for parts. I dont understand why components are sealed for life now? Maybe the manufacturers are cashing in on expensive bits.

Thank you all for your advice, spoke to my MOT tester today and he was happy that as long as you could hear the click form the instrument cluster it was a pass.
