Photo storage / sharing websites?

For the first time I am looking to upload all of my family pictures (and video clips) onto a website, so I can share with friends etc, and also use as a backup.

I have searched and found:

www.flickr.com
www.picasaweb.google.com

Are there any others better? Have you been using one for a long time that you are happy with?

You should check out skydrive as a priority for sharing photos! And A Drive also :]

I use photobucket for stuff I don't really care about - hosting any old junk to put up on forums, for example!

I use Flickr for the stuff which is important to me - family shots, things where I'd like to get feedback, that sort of thing.

Pretty sure Flickr can. In my experience Photobucket can barely handle photos...

+1 Pro account is about $20 per year and gives unlimited uploads, unlimited downloads and unlimited storage. It's a fking steal IMO.

I am paying around $50/year with mozy.com now for backing stuff up so seems like a no brainer to me, thanks.

Just by way of explanation, I use Photobucket not because it is particularly good, but simply because some of the weird stuff I post on places like this wouldn't necessarily sit well alongside the photos of the Grandkids my parents and in-laws like to browse through on flickr.

Another vote for flickr, but a pro account is $24.99 now. Still a total steal.

Smugmug.com is my favorite. Completely customisable, you can set it up with no smugmug branding/logos at all and link it with your own domain so that it appears to be a completely independent website, huge range of options if you want to sell prints/books/merchandise all set up out of the box, can host full HD video, run by a good bunch of guys that give excellent customer service. And I find it much more pleasant to use as a viewer than Flickr/Photobucket etc.

Only downside is that they don't do a free package, but the basic one (the one I have) isn't much.

Photobox has come on quite a lot recently and you can attach on a free Pro gallery to allow you to sell your work. Also lets you upload multiple pics and import them from Flickr. Worth a look imo.

Another vote here for flickr.

It's worth adding that if you get your internet connection from BT you qualify for a flickr pro account, without any additional payment.

Although I have websites where I could upload pictures to, the uploading process with flickr is much easier and quicker!

Vote for Flickr from me too.

I'd had limited trouble with Photobucket at the time, and Flickr seemed a lot more reliable, plus there was/is a nice plugin to my Wordpress blog that allowed my to display my Flickr photos really easily.
