It has not been cancelled and the BTCC even officially confirmed a few days ago that it is definitely on!
Go to their official website and you will see that they have been pouring out stories over the last few days about the forthcoming Donington meeting and how to buy tickets for it etc. Do you really think they would be doing that if it has been cancelled or if they thought it was even likely to be cancelled??!!

Apparently all the major work has been done and approved. They have even laid down new turf in that area to pretty it up.Seems to be cutting it very fine!
They are just finishing off the tyre barriers and debris fencing. Don't know if that will get done for this Saturday, although I presume it will as it's not much to do.

Whoever said that to you is talking absolute rubbish. The teams all received an email last week from Alan Gow (I have a copy of it) which categorically states that the meeting is NOT cancelled.

However, does make you wonder how something as straightforward as upgrading an existing access tunnel could have been so badly managed in the first place.

I have added the bit in bold. Also the only way you know it will officially be going ahead is on the day. It is his teams opinion it wont be.

It wasn't an existing tunnel, it was a brand new tunnel build that involved removing the original track surface. Yes they cocked up the process, but hopefully things are going to be OK to race there now.johnfelstead said:

If you choose to completely ignore the actual BTCC organiser, who has officially confirmed publicly and to the teams that it is going ahead, but rather believe some 'un-named' person who "thinks" it might not, then I give up......

Officially as it stands it can't go ahead. If things change over the next week, it can. In its present format it can't.

How many times have people said no things will definitely happen to then say a week later. Sorry we haven't been able to do x, y and z. So it is now called off.
