Dropped the car off at the garage on the 18th April, I knew they were busy, but it was the only time for a couple of weeks I could get it to them, so I said they could hold onto her for a couple of weeks whilst I enjoyed my marathon and birthday weekends.

Don't think i'll be getting it this week either as they need a silly little part that Power don't stock frown

Just miss her deeply. Trips to the tumble dryer and freezer just aren't the same when she's not in there.

Garage have been good though, kept me up to date.

Please rain this weekend.

I realised the other day it's been six months since I last drove my Cerb, and with the insurance up in June, and me currently out of work I'm not sure if I can get it through the MOT in time for me to have another drive! :S

Mine's been in the Garage Since wednesday - Full 12k Service including tappets, Suspension Geo set, All wishbone mounts re-greased, etc etc. Picking it up tonight and can't wait.
Any guesses as to how much it's going to cost?

Mine's having 24k service tappets, oil temp gauge installed, geo set up too.

Am hoping under £1k, but not holding my breath!

Same here - but quietly optomistic as I think I've discovered a Gem of a Mechanic, we'll see....!!

Well, I should get mine back tonight, but I'm going to have to be good and not take it out over the weekend, in case I get any chips on the newly painted from before the Armourfend man comes next week. It's going to be hellfrown

Spill the beans.

After all my pondering, asking who to go to (Power, Austec, APM etc) I went with my 'relatively' local Scole Engineering. Jason, who I spoke to seemed very knoweldgeable, and when I turned up there was a Griff, Cerb, Aston, a MINT SEAC cloud9 and the rare sight of an MG SV Power jobbie, so obviously trusted with some lovely machinery.

Like you I was pondering where to go - I've tried a few Indie TVR Specialists, and I've never really been too happy with them. They seemed a bit complacement, almost as if they were doing me a favour. I was reccomeded a garage in Leeds by the Local TVRCC rep. I went and saw him and in his garage up on the ramps was a Tuscan, and an old E type he was taking the engine out to fit a clutch, an old Aston, and a Chim. The Guy seemed really knowledgeble, a Motor Engineer, not a Mechanic. Ex 3 times World stock car champion who used to build his own 6 litre 800hp engines, and gear boxes, etc etc. I asked him if he could do the tappets on the AJP, and he looked at me like I'd just asked him if he knew how to do an oil change biggrin . .......Anyway I'm probably tempting fate here singing his praises, lets see what happens when I pick the car up, I'll let you know.

Shayne, what's the prognosis then? Have you got the engine stripped yet?

Mines is getting a 12k service inc tappets, gearbox replaced, new emergency pull handles, indicators(not cancelling) sorted and other bits and bobs done. The worrying one being that I may be needing front discs (if they aren't skimmable) hoping to collect it tomorrow.
If it does need discs does anybody know who has them?

Just picked the Car up - you forget how quick they are - Feels a lot better, although he didnt have time to do the Engine tune up, he did say it was only slightly out, thats being done next week.

1. Shocks adjusted to achieve correct ride hight - it was set too low.
2. Steering Geo set to factory settings but parallel toe-in at the front.
3. Tappets checked and adjusted - only 4 needed doing. Not bad after 24,000 miles. He did say the the cams and bucket seats were made from reaaly high quality, hard steel (from TVR ??)
4. Handbrake adjusted, now works perfectly.
5. Oil and Filter Change
6. Diff and Gearbox oil changed.

No other parts required.

£440.00 not too bad.

Got mine MOT'd this afternoon. Local garage with very little TVR experience so I was a little nervous.

This morning I spent an hour and a half fitting the cats (one new and one old) back on. They made very little difference to the noise level of the old girl.

Can anybody tell me why there is no flexible section to the exhaust. It would make getting everything lined up soooooo much easier.

Once hot she passed emissions (just) and the chassis was OK (my biggest worry). Handbrake was only just acceptable but front brakes had a 91% efficiency which was the highest the (rather senior) tester had ever seen!!

Tempted to treat it to a short induction kit (care of Joo) and some new carpets.

Got to decide now if I am going to do most of the service myself and just get it checked over (and book stamped) or bite the bullet and have someone do the lot.

Can you tell me who your mechanic is please,i have been a big stock car fan for over 30 years and wouldn`t mind him servicing my Cerb knowing the punishment those engines take!

Hi Alan, his name is Andy Turner, based in Leeds and his contact no is 0113 278 4003. I'm impressed with him, he clearly knows his stuff, and very pleased with the work he's done.
