I dug out my old xbox and Heoroes of the Pacific the other day. I used to use it on a 32" CR telly but have now connected it to my 100hz 50" Plasma.

Now, I remember the grapics being pretty good and it wasn't THAT long since I last played it on a CRT but on the new TV they're awful - really blocky.

Is it just because it's a bigger TV and the xbox isn't HD?

Or have I just got used to Xbox360 graphics?

In my opinion the Original xBox graphics are woeful in comparison even to the PSII and N64... but then, I am a Fanboy!

Again, IMHO, very few of the games for it will stand the test of time.

I stick to Retro gaming or the cutting edge!! biggrin

This is not meant in a sarcastic or moody way laugh Just imvho

I think you mean GameCube as opposed to N64, sit the XBox next to an N64 and you'll notice the difference immediately.

No, I mean N64... hence the fanboywink

Apologies for being vaguely obtuse. (Not an OG xBox fan.)

Which in this context is probably unhelpful getmecoat

Having played xBox back to back with N64 literally 4days ago though I felt as though I was in a fairly good position to comment.

Though my basis for N64 love is probably more associated emotion than actual Pixel attribute tongue out

Still... I agree with the OP that comparatively the xBox graphics are not as impressive as you might imagine.

I still play Goldeneye on the N64 (on a CRT TV) and the graphics are exactly as I remembered. And I love it!

I think perhaps the problem is that the big HD TV emphasizes the lower resolution of the xbox game, does that make sense?

Haha! Quality! shoot

I think also that Big Flatscreens don't deal with Standard Definition as well as the old giant grey boxes. So putting that sort of Signal is going to show up weaknesses in the picture.

Yeah I have an HD AV lead on mine to and it does improve the picture a lot.
Although, I cant understand why you would want to play Heroes of the Pacific lol

They are vaguely flying games (but completely brilliant) on the N64.

I should really leave this Thread alone laugh
