Radiators and warranty
Discussion
Not mentioning dealer, however, my MK2 Tuscan S has recently had a replacement radiator fitted at my cost.
Supplying dealer has taken original factory fit one to repair with the promise that if they can I will get a refund of costs.
Bought car under the agreement that dealer would honour 3 year factory warranty. Which to their credit they have done, all be it that I've had to beg and chase for payment on items. Some of which I've ended up paying for myself.
Car was under 2 years old and 7000 miles when radiator split.
I was advised that the original factory radiators are rubbish and do not stand up to the flexing of the bodywork very well.
Dealer now says radiator can't be repaired and thus I'm £400 out of pocket. Also, I've got repeat problems with my dashboard ECU/door sensors which dealer is saying is not covered under warranty.
The question is: are radiators really consumable items and as such expected to be replaced every 2 years?

assuming a "consumable" is not defined in your warranty to mean something broader than colloquial use of this phase would suggest then IMO the garage's denial of your claim is hopeless. If a radiator is a consumable item, then what part of a car is not a consumable item? By definition, everything that is 'used' is worn out sooner or later (i.e. consumed). You might ask them that!

Hi,
I had my radiator replaced under warranty...and I didn't even ask! Dealer spotted a small leak during service, ordered a new one under warranty (all alloy), and even gave back the old one to me after about 30 days "just in case the warranty people wanted to look at it".
Cheers!
My warranty is as per TVR factory warranty i've been told. Part of deal to buy the car was that dealer would honor the original factory warranty. Radiators were not included so I'm told BUT i don't have any information either way.I had my radiator replaced under warranty...and I didn't even ask!
