Can anyone tell me if it is possible to fit the pod type door mirrors from the 350 /400 to the 280i doors - I have had a quick look at a 350 and it looks like it may be possible - would like to know if anyone has done this.
Cheers
Ian
I did it to my 200. It would be the same as doing it to a 280. If you want more details let me know. Cheers Steve.Cheers

Steve / Jeff,
thanks for the replies - Steve I would be interested to know what is involved - I plan to get the mirrors from TET Mouldings - is this what you did ? Do you know if they come with the internals and mirrors if not any ideas where I can get that parts from ? - also how are they fixed to the car I am guessing it is through the small quarters at the front edge of the door.
Any help / advice greatly appreciated
Cheers

Other option is to fit M3 ones, put them of the racer and they fit very well.
Problem getting the TET ones its just the housing, so you then need to find the insides, and mirrors.

It's a V8 in a 280 chassis. Normal exhausts wouldn't fit.
As G said it's a 280 S1 chassis, so the narrowest version, there's no way you will get manifold to fix the standard way. It was always said you could never fix a v8 into a S1 chassis, but the idea was to try, and if it was impossible as everyone said, we was going to strip the car and fit all the parts onto a 350 FHC chassis.
But we dropped a V8 in to see what the problem was, and it was only the exhaust, that seemed a problem, so I had the idea to copy the Griff (this is a copy from the Tuscan Racers) I tried to get some Tuscan racer Exhausts but there are very rare, so we went with Griff ones.
This seemed to solve all our problems, we even managed to move the engine back 2” more that it is in the 400SE, as we had to make our own engine mounts.
None of the main chassis was cut; we repositioned one of the lower cross braces, and fitted a removable gearbox mount. To make engine or gearbox removal easier. Handy as we have had it out several times.

I did buy the pods from TET Mouldings. You will also need the motors, mirror glass and the 2 switches that control the movement.thanks for the replies - Steve I would be interested to know what is involved - I plan to get the mirrors from TET Mouldings - is this what you did ? The motors are from a Rover SD1 or a Saab 900 (I think the Saab 9000 is also the same motor). The switches are Rover SD1. I'm not sure but I think the mirror glass is off a Capri. I'm not totally sure as I bought my mirror glass from a TVR dealer as I wasn't sure what it was off at the time.
I fixed the pods by drilling 3 holes in the triangular metal piece and bolting them on. Never seen how the originals are mounted.
There is some info here with a wiring diagram. http://www.tvrwedgepages.co.uk/maint_wedge_mirrors...
