I will be visiting Juniper in Bristol with my girlfriend tonight as its her fav place in the world to eat. I was just thinking how hungry I am, but as I will be wanting to go with a huge appetite it got we thinking about my starvation for the day!

Is it just me or does anyone else change their daily eating habits when they are going out to eat in the evening?

I tend to have breakfast and then just something very light for lunch, and often lunch much earlier than normal so I've a reasonable appetite by evening time.

Yeh, it's always good to starve yourself so you appreciate the food even more! Mind you, I once starved myself before going to an all-you-can-eat buffet (was actually too busy to eat during the day) but my stomach appeared to have shrink and I was unable to cram the anticipated several portions. Proper disappointment! hehe

I tend to miss lunch and starve myself. I also make sure that I don't dine at these silly fancy places that pass off tiny portions as acceptable. They aren't no matter how nice or smartly arranged they are.

Starving yourself doesn't necessarily work. The French have the right idea with this, the key is to eat as normal (perhaps slightly reduced portions at breakfast & lunch) and just before the main event, whilst sipping an aperitif, nibble on some peanuts/crisps/amuse bouche or whatever. It gets the digestive system going without filling you up. Works for me when I go over there and indulge in some epic meals anyway.

Starving yourself makes your stomach 'shrink', so when food finally hits it, it fills up quicker.
