e90 remote locking driving me mad! help!

my 2006 sparkling graphite 318d msport isn't sparkling at the moment - and I'm hoping someone can give me some pointers as to what is going wrong?!
when I want to open the car I can only do so with the key... but when I lock it I can do it with the remote, and when I open it with the key only the drivers door and the boot unlock.... not even the petrol cap - so as you can imagine I can't get too far at the moment!
is there any bright spark who could put the sparkle back into the graphite?
