As a resident of these parts and a regular LM visitor seems a shame that we can't co-ordinate something for the Wednesday night stop-over that so many of you take in the Ashford/Folkestone area prior to your Channel crossings.

So the suggestion is a Le Mans-themed BBQ evening at the Black Horse Inn, Sellindge on June 10th. Lovely country pub approx 4 miles South of Ashford. Plan would be a BBQ, maybe an LM quiz and, yes, the landlord has a field you can camp in if you want to extend the under-canvas experience.

www.thebestpubintheparish.com - tells you all about the pub. So this thread is to gauge the level of interest over the next 2 weeks or so prior to either a) firming up and announcing further details or b) giving up in despair.

So, expressions of interest please...

sounds like a good idea.there are 9 of us whom all live in the ashford area catching the 6am ferry from dover on the 11th but would be good to have a beer with said like minded before we go.

I know it is not what you suggested, but i'm getting an early morning ferry on Friday.

Reckon if we turned up for a few pints in the evening on Thursday the landlord would be happy with our campervan parked in his carpark until early Friday? (driver not getting on it obviously!)

That' assuming that you know the landlord.

Cheers

Peter

Sounds like a bit of a plan. We're crossing on the Tunnel about 11ish with a hotel in Calais but might be able to stop by for a warm pint and burnt sausage - start as you mean to go on!

All depends on how well the run down the A1 is I guess.

Well I've printed off a map from Google so depending on how we go this might be a handy place to water ourselves and have some food before hitting France for the night.

OK looks as though there is some interest here and will bump this thread back to the top. I'll have a chat with the landlord this BH weekend and it will be his decision as to whether it's a goer. So keep expressions of interest coming and await firmer details next week (or alternatively directions to the nearest McDonalds...)
