E30 Brakes... Is this correct.

Just a quick question to the Beemer experts.
I have just overhauled the rear brakes on my E30 track project but when I took them apart I forgot to look how the springy piece of metal (anti-squeal spring?) fitted to the caliper, anyway I have put it back together but want to make sure that the spring is on correctly.
The bit I am talking about is the unpainted metal shim on the outside of the caliper. Is this correct?
Oh and I do realise that this looks like some sort of Max Power/CHAV creation but I f
king hate rusty discs and calipers and Blue was the only colour Halfords had left.
