hello all, just bought my second cerb, had a x reg speed six but sold that and have just bought a 1997 4.2 in aston martin green and black leather, love the car already even though i have just spent most of the day removing the steering rack as it needs a refurb, seemed to take alot longer than i expected and even after removing nearly every water hose, was a real pig to actually get it out of the engine bay. next job on the list is the handbrake which seems to not want to stay on, i'm guessing that its a problem with the rachet mechanism so need to take a closer look, my question is though can i access this from inside the car by removing the centre console, if so how does the centre console come off or have i got to play around underneath the car which i'm also guessing is going to involve removing quite alot? any help would be most appreciated.

Is it just the button sticking in so the rachet doesn't work? It's quite common as you can pull the handbrake slightly sideways and the button sticks in.

Also, if you have the alloy handbrake cover: it's held on with allen screws. If these are done up too tight the button can stick or be prevented from popping out fully.
