Theres a couple Hereford way, if they are any use to you

I ended up using the local Main Dealer as MB Worcester seem to be a decent set up, and do a pretty decent deal if you haggle with them.

NB. What happened to the Pagoda?

Thanks for those leads...I'm in North Shropshire but at a push Hereford wouldn't be too bad if the work I need doing can be done in a day I could just have a wonder around.

The Pagoda went last weekend:

But my W129 280SL I'm assured (!) will be back from the bodyshop Tuesday or Wednesday this week.

Also...I've just bought (on Thursday) a 2.0L 190E...smile

Really would like to get both serviced and a general check over in the first instance.

Anymore details on these two? Are they having the full Derin makeover? Only being noisey smile

Hi Mikey

Well, I bought the W129 280SL a few months ago now as a Cat D damaged car (very light...I have the picture somewhere...will have to dig them out). It's been away at the body/paintshop a while and is due back this week. I haven't seen it yet but I just asked them to "sort it out". They know I'm pernickerty so we'll see. It's the same place that did the Pagoda so you can see they're pretty good! I'm looking forward to seeing it again.

I'll set to work on it once back. Then it'll need a service and I might for once actually drive it for a bit this time! Getting a bit fed up with never enjoying driving these cars.

I only bought the 190E intially as I just wanted a decent car with a tow-bar to tow my sons's karts rather than muck about getting getting one fitted to my wife's BMW Touring. But I seem to have found a real cracker! 2 Owner 66K miler! Initially, I didn't have the intention of doing anything to it but now I'm starting to think it's too good!

I thought the Pagoda was a keeper?... with the even more major than usual make-over!

Always had a soft spot for 190E's, and like good E34's they are gainging a following. one thing I would check is the steering damper, a new one made a world of difference to my already beautifully driving W124.

Derin

I am near Whitchurch and have been through a load of garages including a specialist German mechanic just over the border into Cheshire - none of whom I can recommend any more. My SL500 is being picked up tomorrow for a number of items by a small indie and if any good I would be happy to recommend. He is near Threapwood and has come highly recommended.

Many thanks Small Car. I'm often up near Whitchurch as I have a good friend and fellow enthusiast who lives just outside. Good luck with the new place.

The W129 280SL should be back today or tomorrow!

The ABS on the 190E has an issue: When you first drive it the frist few applications of the brake cause the ABS to activate inappropriately even with very light braking. Thereafter the car brakes perfectly. Then after a few minutes of driving the ABS warning light will come on the dash.

Also on first driving turning the steering wheel is accompanied by a strange noise...a cross between groan and a hydraulic type gurgle. This too disappears after the first few turns.
