Hi all,

i'm not sure why but I suddenly have an urge to buy a nice watch. I thought it would go away but it won't. I think I will probably give in soon so would appreciate some advice. I like the look of the Omega Speedmaster, I have seen quite a few on ebay. Most seem to be from the States. I am not too bothered about it being brand new as long as it's in good condition but would be worried about it arriving and being genuine. Am I better sticking to a new one from a shop or is there anywhere else I should be looking. Any similar watches I should consider? Any advice appreciated as this is all quite new to me.

Cheers,

Ed

I would avoid ebay for watches at that price point.

You're are far better of joining TZ-UK, or going to one of the reputable pre-owned dealers such as watches.co.uk

Yep, watches.co.uk, chronomaster.co.uk, blowers-jewellers.co.uk all have decent reputations, as do many sellers on TZ-UK. When buying on a forum, though, I'd do homework on who you're buying from.

There are loads of reputable watch shops online, for new and pre-owned watches.

Chronomaster.co.uk
Blowers jewellers
Many of the watch forums

Dominic H on here can probably find something for you aswell!

I would probably avoid Ebay. If it comes from America, you'll need to at the VAT on to the price aswell. Or maybe not? I'm nto sure if it still applies top second hand goods?

Yes VAT is applicable on goods coming in from outside the EU, although it's hit & miss whether you get clobbered or not.
