Was there a year that the S2 Elise swap from having LOTUS on the rear to having a round badge or was it an option to have either when new??

From memory the early S2s had the LOTUS letters. For a time in 2004 they switched to the round badge, but this didn't last for long and they went back to using the LOTUS letters.

I'm pretty sure that if you preferred the badge, you could order it like that (Lotus will do anything for a price).

Don't know the answer to the question but mines an 03 and has a lotus badge, the more recent ones seem to have LOTUS lettering.

My 05 111S had the chrome stickers, it looked cheap to me so I ordered

Think the Lotus badge instead of wording was a MY04 change (my 03 plate car must be a MY04 as it has a badge on the back) - along with moving the windscreen washer reservoir into the engine compartment.

From other posts, looks like that by MY06 it had changed back to lettering

My 52 plate S2 had the Lotus Badge - but i purchased the letters from Bell and Colville and changed it myself. Looks better IMO

Stich - think you're spot on there, MY04 brought it in, MY06 replaced it with lettering again. I've an MY05 and it's got the badge.

Weight saving with the sticky letters, surely weight saving is what Lotus is all about! ;-)
