Hello, just been asked the question and as normal i have to ask you fine folk the answer. Cols just asked if all of our cars (monaros,vxr8's etc) run on 3.4 diff as standard or do some models come with the 3.9. If they are 3.4 as standard who would have come up with the idea of upping it to the 3.9? Help me help me i'm thick silly

I dont think any come with a 3.9 as standard. Most are 3.4 except 5.7 vxr which is 3.7. A 3.9 diff will give better acceleration in each gear.

All but the 5.7 vxr run a 3.44 diff. The gearing in the 6.0 vxr gear box gives an equiv of running a 3.9 diff. The 5.7 vxr had a 3.71 diff.

I think some of the Utes run a 3.9-ish diff.

3.09,not 3.91. The autos go well with a 3.45 though

The HSV GTS-R was fitted with a 3.9 from the factory.

Indeed, I saw someone on LS1.com.au is selling 4.11 kits now.

This "may" be confusing info, and I think you have to put down the year. eg. I had a 2006 VZ Clubsport R8 (M6) which had 3.46's.

Agreed - I should have been more specific. I was referring to the original HSV UK imports brought in by Rod, I forgot about the private imports which may have a different ratio.

Cheers, Paul
