£45k (asking) for an S reg 355GTS at an independent dealer. Price seems low for such a late car but what about the 45k miles? Is it better to buy older with lower mileage? I think that the car is RHD. After 3 years and 15k extra miles on the clock could I sell it?

When I was looking or a 355 daily driver, this is the sort of car I was looking for Andrew; it was either a low miles car I'd rack up the mileage on then sell before it got too extreme, or better still a car with 'high' mileage and the price discounted. The price is definitely being screwed because of the mileage. It's the sort of thing I *would* buy, and if it does have 60K miles when you come to sell it, what's the floor? 20K? 30K? Or more. I would expect it to be worth more than a 328 for sure.

Would it need another belt change in 3,000 miles though?

Belts need to be done every 3 years so probably yes.
When where they last done?

What's the colour (red commands a higher premium) ? What's the service history (FSH is a must) ?

If it's advertised at £46k - I'm sure you must be able to haggle a couple of K of it.

At the end of the day, unless you're a bona fide collector with a museum on the west wing, buying cars which you intend to actually utilise but will simultaneously worry about depreciating because of miles being piled on, is a road to nowhere that's probably best avoided!

Frankly, that's why the best car for anyone is the car that they love SO much, they're unlikely to ever want to sell it.

It's taken me years to get to this point but in the form of my beloved beetle and crack viggen, satiation is utterly complete with all the bases covered. I cannot imagine ever disposing of either.

Agreed, I'd also much prefer a car that had been "driven" and has a few miles on it than a garage queen.

Car is black but I have only driven past and have no more info. If anyone is interested, the link is:

I know with a bit of haggling it would be good value but having sold my 99V 25k miles 3200GT for £23.5k into the trade, I still have a problem with the price of Ferrari 'bargains'!

Wow - £23.5k for a 3200GT, wish I'd bought it off you!

A 99v manual only retails at about £27k now so 23.5 should be no problem privately - if you want one! Autos about a grand more

In my experience of trying to sell my 3200GT privately on Pistonheads and in Autocar, people seem to think that they should pay the trade price but at those prices I would prefer to sell into the trade itself - less hassle and less comeback!

Private buyers have to pay more than trade - and I don't mean a token £500 more - to make all the time worthwhile [Don't get me going on the idiot who tried to buy my last but one SL500 for less than the best trade bid I had and then was insulted when I sold it to the trader].

If you think £23.5k is low, you should have seen the bids from the Maser network (that is if you can twist someone's arm enough for them to give you one)!

Somehow I don't think you are the only one on here thinking that!

The 355 might have been cheap if it was'nt for the dealer mis-typing it as a 99 car when it is actually a 95!
