Anyone know how French law works re radar detectors.

pretty sure if you get caught with one you'll get nicked, whether your using it or not. seem to remember my brother getting around a 600 euro fine,but i could be wrong

Just don't bother taking it. Big fine and they will smash it up in front of you smile

Ps don't worry about speed cameras they still can't get you hehe

not that you should be speeding anyway

Not quite true I'm afraid...

Over here the DVLA has just started a new system for foreign drivers where, if they get caught for speeding, points are recorded on a sort of virtual licence with details held by the DVLA in UK. If a foreign driver accumulates too many points then they can be effectively banned from driving in the UK.

I understand that other EU countries are also implementing "complemantary" systems and that the future aim is to agree that these points will be passed back to the licence issuing nation.

So.... probably best to remove your radar detector and fit a garage door opener (which also has the nasty side effect of jamming laser)biglaugh
