May seem like an odd question this but theirs definately something up somewhere!

When got the car even on the first day it never felt like it had 500 horses under the bonnet (I came from a 2.0D with 136bhp as everyday car) so yes it felt quick, very quick but not anything like I imagined 500bhp to feel like, and its been the same since reall for the 1500 miles ive done in it.

However last week I took it out after getting the new battery on, put some fuel in and took it for a brief run but not really going for it and thought to myself after putting it away that actually felt quicker than normal, but dismissed the thought because hadnt used it for nearly 2 weeks.

Anyways went out the other day and let my dad drive and from the passenger seat I was thinking this is alot quicker than I remember but the weather got bad so it went straight in the garage before I got a chance to try.

Now today I was going to a supercar meet which was a good 40+ miles away and took a mate up with me, didnt put any new fuel in so that ruled that angle out, we were late setting off and got caught in a rain storm and the road we were on was close due to an accident, once got past that had to make the time up and quick so was really going for it especially in 2nd and 3rd gears and it felt normal to me. Got to the meet and left a few hours later I came out of the village it was at in 2nd gear and floored it and we both just went f*ck me thats quick, tried it in 3rd and the car was literally flying. It was going how I expected 500 horses to be going. Naturally I said to my mate this feels alot quicker than on the way up and he said yeah it definately does.

Any suggestions as to what may be going on, it quite literally feels like the car seems to find another 50-80bhp from somewhere and as its only started happening recently im not sure what its doing or why! If it keeps getting quicker then great but why is it not like that all the time?

Apologies for the essay!

really doesnt sound right at all. Have you tried the car on a rolling road or had someone do some logging with efilive or hptuner software? If not then I'd be getting some logging done asap to see whats going on in the car in case its something drastic. Get it checked asap rather than risk doing damage - power should be there and available at all times. What charger have you got fitted?

you need to start logging things such as timing. other effects etc but if it usually feels sluggish it could be timing being pulled for some reason.

Its the harrop 112 thats fitted.

Any ideas where I can take it to get looked at considering I live in the black hole area of the country for people that do stuff with these cars and its a blooming long trip to the likes of monkfish etc!

Im booked in with yourselves in July, was going to ask if one of you would have a drive for a second opinion as you know the cars.

should be cheap but it was just a tongue in cheek comment on a common issue on sc but your taking it to the fish let them check it out. I would advise getting at the very least a capable datalogger, have a chat to Ringram about getting the scan version of EFILive. It is invaluable, there are other tools but this is pretty damn good. You can monitor in real time issues effecting the car.

I've had one or two days when mine's felt like this, I've commented to a few friends who were on board at the time, don't think any of them really understood what I was getting at, just hope next weekend is another day I feel the extra 80bhp boost!

If your SC setup is non intercooled then it sounds a lot to me like the cars pulling timing to reduce intake temps.

And possibly even if it is intercooled.. Or like Stig says could be belt. I know Roger S600 replaces his frequently to prevent that happening.
The joys of supercharger ownership. You can have 500bhp when its snowing but not the rest of the year smile
Intake temps need to come down.

As Mr fish says its just clutching at straws so get her logged. But those are all known common problems, which the guys can show you from their dyno day results. Hence some guys have moved on to turbo's and larger intercoolers.

Raising boost will just make it worse, look to making the engine mechanically more efficient before just blindly raising boost and therefore directly intake temps (PV=nRT anyone?). Heads, cam etc.

With regards to all of the datalogging etc mentioned above I neither have the equipment to take the data and in all honesty would have no idea what im looking at once had the data! That may not be an option for me getting into that side of stuff.

Thanks for all of the replies above its much appreciated.
