T350 - Can't get out

When i push the button on the dashboard to open the door nothing happens. It's still illuminated and the door opens readily from the wing mirror button so i'm guessing it's not the relay.

Anyone got any ideas?

If the wing mirror button still works, it might point towards the interior door release button being stuffed as one assumes the door ecu is working. Of course, being a TVR it could be a number of other things (wiring, door ecu etc.) but a good first bet would be to take the interior button out of the assembly and check it's working with a multimeter.

I suggest swapping the door control boxes between the two doors. This would help identify if it is the button or not before pulling it to pieces.

Hmmm, why didn't I think of that first?! Best do that before hauling out half the dash!

Does it feel like the button is actually connecting with anything when you push it?

The button is just a piece of plastic that operates a small switch on a PCB. On mine (driver's side) the switch had come apart such that the button wouldn't move.

Easy enough to take out (if a little nerve-wracking) - take the stereo and cage out, undo a couple of 8mm bolts (2003 T350C) and 'ease' (and I use the term loosely) the eliptical pod containing the stereo and door / window controls out. This is easiest with the glovebox removed. Be very careful with the ribbon cables connecting the door controls to the rest of the car.

Once the pod is out, the control assys are easy to remove and check over...

Installation is the direct reversal of the above procedure, but is much easier - the worst bit is trying to do up the 8mm nuts with your hand through the stereo cage - if you drop one you've got to take the whole thing out and start again!

I reckon it could be taken out and replaced in about 30 minutes - possibly a little less...

The button seems just as you described, as it is connected to nothing. It looks like a job for the weekend.

Driver and passenger footwells respectively. Just remove the carpet-trimmed panels to get to them.

This got me thinking...... next time the misus asks where I have been all day in that bloody car! my reply will be - Well the door lock buttons stopped working so I had to keep driving it arround until they started working again

Water in my door control thingie stopped mine working. overnight in the boiler room at work sorted it out.
