I can't guarantee the propriety of this message, but there is little harm in posting it here if it helps.

Chaps & chapesses,

My beloved bright red 993 RS was stolen from outside my house in London in the early hours of this morning. If you get offered one that matches, please let the police and me know. It was, of course, fully alarmed, Trackered and immobilised. For the thieves convenience, I had just had it serviced as well. Spec below, please feel free to pass on to anyone you know who is in the Porsche etc world.
Blessings for a thousand generations and at least a case of quite exceptional wine to anyone who finds it!

If it's trackered it should be back by tomorrow

The police need to get around to it, so it always takes a little while.

Apart from this 993RS, I know of two successful and one unsuccessful heists of Porsche GT3's in the last two weeks. I regret that the professionalism of the jobs had to be admired!

Take care out there and be careful who you let know where your car is, who you lend the keys to and how it is protected.

fully alarmed, Trackered and immobilised..., this dosn't sound like opportunists. It's either been stolen to order, or it's on it's way to some dodgy breakers yard. I do hope he gets his beloved back in timely fashion and in good shape.

I don't want to speak out of turn, but if it was mine and it was pinched.......I wouldn't want it back. The resale value of stolen cars is poor. Then again, it depends what the insurance company would pay out if the car was never found....

Very sorry to hear this, I will keep my eyes open and mention it to som RS contacts i have.

I beleive this is a well known car, it was in Autocar earlier in the year, amongst the party of 4 911 going to the ring to test the GT3 mk2.

Apparently the GT3's were garaged. How are they getting the information to target the theft attempts ??

I think we all need to remember these guys regard stealing cars as a career and put the same skills and determination into there"Job" as we do in ours.At the end of the day there are only so many places that you can put a tracker/navtrac/tracstar and these guys know them all. 3 years ago 2 new M3 were delivered to a dealer in Barnstable that night both were stolen by a firm from Birmingham (inside knowledge?) the Trackers were removed within seconds(car theives dont care about damage to the car it is just a cost of aquisition)
We should make it as hard for them as possable ie physical deterents (parking posts)help Keep spare keys in a key safe not in a draw in the hall table but the botom line is that if they want your car for some guy in Kazakstan then they will try to take it and may well suceed.

and if you keep your car in a traditional garage next to your home/on a drive (unlike many of us unfortunates in the smoke) take a look at your home security - the sad reality is that with people taking care to stop "hooking" through letter boxes the professionals that target the upper end of the market including Porsche exotica are resorting to house breaking to obtain the keys - sad but true

Internet forums 'could' be responsible for this. I have read threads very recently from new GT3 owners all discovering they live within a few streets of eachother, and then even mentioning their locale Great for camaraderie, but we have to be aware that 'anyone' could be reading these posts and then doing their homework/ reconnaisance with an £80k booty the prize.

Be very careful about personal details on the web, who knows who is listening?
