Just had an advisory of the above message on my 2002 E46 as a result of it's MOT. Is this something that I should genuinely be worried about, and if so, any idea of probable cost?

Very normal on the E46, parts are about £120 (pair) and around an hour's labour to fit, or a reasonable DIY. If you notice shaking through the steering, bad cornering or loud knocking when you brake, then it's time to replace.

Very, very common. Don't bother fitting another pair of OEM bushes, they are useless. Go for a set of Powerflex replacements, better AND cheaper and will last longer. Available on the "bay" at good prices with and without holders.

Easy DIY fitment, especially with the holders.

Worn weak bushes also increase tyre wear and reduce steering accuracy. Replace before you really really have to.

Thanks for the feedback chaps.
Sounds like this is a good move to do then.
Would I be right in guessing that there are several bushes in the front suspension, and that it would be worth doing them all at the same time? If so, what are the different bushes?

You'll have that one bush at the back of the wishbone, and the other joints are balljoints. It's not really worthwhile changing them yet until there is evidence of a problem

Again my thanks ref the confirmation about the number of bushes. I see that Powerflex sell them directly for £25 each brand new. Just gotta find me an indy in Surrey to do the job.
Any suggestions?

Yes, I'm the same Mr_Sukebe, from a number of forums, including PF.
