Handbrake is lame..
Discussion
Hi all, just wondering if it's possible to adjust the handbrake, as i need to yank mine up with two hands to get it to hold, and even then it's 50/50 if it's works or not!
Also have the M.O.T coming up, so this would be a good time to sort it..
Do you think I need a new cable, or would it be possible to adjust??
Thanks chaps..

If you follow the right hand (off side) cable you will find a plastic adjusting nut. It's not easy to get to though, you may need a long screwdriver to push the adjuster around and take up the slack in the cable. There is also a plastic lock nut which will have to be loosened before you can turn the adjuster.

I think it was Pete Humphries that said you have to be careful not to do that adjuster for the cable up too tight otherwise the self adjusting mechanism of the handbrake doesn't work properly.
It sounds like yours isn't workng properly anyway - there's some little ratchet teeth thingmy bobs in the drum housing that do the adjustment - I think they get gunged up with brake dust then don't work.
Its well worth getting a Sierra V6 Haynes Manual if you want to try and fix it, just be careful etc etc.
