Resealing Headlamps

Carefully removed the headlamp covers tonight frightened of slipping with the craft knife
Broke one
but ok with the other.
The one i didn't split was a git different sealant to the other.
Anyone had success sealing these and with what.
I was going to use soudalflex 40FC polyurethane mastic a sickalex alternative.
The pods are ok do have some shading in them if i paint them bound to leave brush marks so might leave it as it is.
Unless anyone else have other ideas.
Got some black enamel paint for the covers just need to get some small brushes.

Sikaflex 221 to re-bond, sticks like sh*t to a blanket, only need a small bead otherwise you will spend ages cleaning it off. Sikaflex also has a long cure time so you might want to not drive it for a few hours. Ambersil 5024(a) to fill the gap between body and lense. I would use model tape to mask body round light and masking tape on front of lense remove after appying the ambersil and smoothing down to create a clean finish.Broke one

If you were local I have a tube of both you could have borrowed. Its bloody expensive stuff only to use a tiny amount and then leave to go solid as it cures off in the tube. Its worth it though as using cheap stuff means you will have to do it again

If we're talking Tamora I've got 2 old ones in my garage if you want a replacement for less than the £50 a piece that new ones cost.
If you're interested I'll get them out, check if they're NS or OS and take some photos to give you an idea of condition.
If you get new ones (as I have) you need to trim them to fit and paint or spray the rim before fixing and sealing.
You may need to trim the old ones a bit to get a good fit to your car as each seating is different.

I will check mine tomorrow to see if its still ok but the Ambersil is cheap and its the sort of stuff that can be used else where to seal the leaky bits up etc. Forgot to say, keep the Sikaflex in the warm its not easy to work with in the cartridge gun when its cold; in fact its a real b
h to get out of the tube, especially through a small nozzel. Shep

Flippin eck £30 for black and £3.50 for other colours are they avin a laugh.
Really can't see that TVR would of paid those rip off prices.

Got a new set today and yes they need trimming about 10mm offIf you're interested I'll get them out, check if they're NS or OS and take some photos to give you an idea of condition.

Sandpaper and care.
I didn't mask off the inside surface and caught it on one lens a couple of times causing a slight scratch. I'd mask off if I was doing the job now.
You need to file in an edge all round the lens so it can attach to the Sikflex.
Perspex files easily but makes a mess that sticks by static to everything so wear gloves and rinse the lens after trimming.
Before doing the final fit I plan to degrease all surfaces with isopropanol wipes.
Just tidying the sprayed junction at the moment before sealing.
I didn't mask off the inside surface and caught it on one lens a couple of times causing a slight scratch. I'd mask off if I was doing the job now.
