How Fast Derestricted

My C55 seems to be unlimited and i would say weight of the cars is the bigest factor, the 155 limit is understandable given the weight, compared to my 911 its no fun stopping the thing.
+1When Mercedes derestrict the cars they go to 186mph.
If you check out the VMAX they are around that figure.

A standard SL55 given enough room would be mid 190's DMS 600bhp car just over the 200mph that's why at VMax you will see SL55's at late 170mph's
and the modified ones into the 180's. However wind conditions can vary
top speeds buy 6mph or more at these speeds.
Braking wise I have done many stops from 190mph+ with no problem at all.
Mark.

Braking wise although they can stop the car, it's more the feel and effort in relation to some other vehicles.
"Because it`s a supercharged engine, it depends on atmospheric conditions , we have seen 335kph " ( 208 mph)
Verbatim from Evo magazine edition 040 February 2002. Original quote from AMG`s project manager for the SL55,
Bernd Baumann .
Added by John Barker : , though the tyres are only rated up to 186 , something to bear in mind if you are ever
tempted to remove the speed restrictor .

On the car they reached over 200mph with, I think it was later found out that it was geared slightly differently from memory.
I see, being taller geared ? Wouldn`t that also involve an engine with more power/torque , a mule then ?Edited by Callughan on Wednesday 13th May 12:11

They also managed a 0-186mph in 32.5secs which would need a good 640bhp
to achieve, [I know].
