Gents, ladies........

I have been suffering from a rubbing on the front drivers wheel when hard cornering to the left, I have swapped wheels, put new tyres on, inspected for rubbing marks but nothing. I have also just noticed when turning the wheel when parked the power steering has started to chirp and purr.

I wonder if the two are linked? I can't see any impact from the wheel on the inner wing liner, no exposed trim etc etc. Strut top, bearing? It's funny as it sounds like rubber bumbling on a wing liner but it's not.

Also the brake pedal sensor is throwing a fault up, I've replaced it but to no joy, still no traction control and when I flash my headlights I sometimes get the ABS warning.

Now Vaux in Darlington are going to look at the ABS and TC issue, however does anyone have any ideas regards to the grumbling noise from the front drivers side wheel?

56 plate monaro VXR.

Cheers in advance,
Sii

Standard car apart from manifolds, exhaust and remap, standard wheels, brakes and tyre size.

I am very confused as to what it could be, when I got the car it used to grumble in that corner but the original dealers (not Darlington) had fitted some dodgy vector brand rubbrer in that corner, which I assumed due to being different to all other tyres was the problem.

Now we have bridgestone potenzas all round.

It sounds like the issues discussed in this thread.

So maybe your strut top bearing is giving up?

Have you checked the bearing on that wheel?

Mine rubs somewhere when going in reverse (and on full lock). Watch the inner edges of the tyres for wear, mine were through to the canvas right on the inside where they touch the strut. Have had everything checked out - we think its down to the choice of tyres.

I've had it happen with 3 brands of tyre, flat walled, curved wall. Swappin front to back and with different psi. I can see no sign of tyre wall rub, no rubbing on the strut itself. Bearing sounds fine, so therefore stumped. Going into Vaux in Darlington this weekend for a week of investigative peeking.

Hope it gets resolved.

Regards to warranty, as long as you make the manufacturer aware of an issue within the warranty period they have to fix it, is that true?

Vauxhall are (and have) changing their waranty rules. Not sure what they might agree to fix these days. I was told bodywork is only covered up to 17000 miles. Not sure what happened to the 60000 I was told when I bought the car.

Don't assume anything until any claim is settled
