Finally with the kind help of Richard I am now running what might be the first VXR8 in the UK with a custom TCM tune for the auto transmission!

The tune was done by Chuck from Corvettes of Westchester in N.Y

The results are nothing short of excellent, feels like I have a new car. The shifting doesn't seem at all confused now and the shifts are so much firmer, getting a nice chirp from the tyres from 1 - 2!

When in traffic there's no more 1 - 2 - 1 it's just ready to go! Shifts from 2 - 3 are great, really positive giving you a good kick back in to the seat.

When you floor it at speed it kicks down to the perfect gear first time with no fuss, this is really what the car should have been like to start with.

I also have redline A6 ATF fluid in mine and an oil cooler fitted, I would recommend these upgrades to any auto owner, it's transformed my car.

In the autos?

Yeh, same boxes as ours, here's one guy, over 700 rwhp using the APS twin turbo kit and lots of other goodies, he's doing 1/4's in 10.727 @ 129.87 mph!

Is the tune available to all to buy or is vehicle/mod specific?

The auto is great when WOT, but hesitant at part throttle.

Best to PM Chris (Mysty) for Chuck's details. The changes are pretty much the standard trans tune changes. But he has done all the R&D for it.
I can help reading and writing the calibration if required etc. Again Im sure Mysty will be able to help with the details.

OK the tune will be done specific to your car, Chuck also offers an ECM in the deal if you want that, the price is $399 and it's all done by email! Your current tune needs to be taken off and sent to him using an EFi Live flash and scan unit, then you'll get it back a few days later and it'll need to be flashed back again, this costs the EFi Live owner a license so that will cost you £80 too.

If people are interested and want this we would have to find some time free, first to get your maps off and then another to put them back on. I'm happy to demo my auto tune to anyone interested if they're at a meet I'm at too!

The new tune takes away the hesitance of the box, it's a lot more sporty for sure!

sounds great, Auto has to be the easiest way to put the power down. Just floor it and let the 'box do the rest. I didn't know they could take that much power?

Quick question, does the R8/VXR8 auto box have the normal and sport mode, as well as the manual select option? confused

Can't find it in the brochures!
