Hi guys,

What would cause my car (99 1.8 Mondeo Zetec, 100k miles) to vibrate/rattle at 85mph+? It does it so badly, it throws the coins out of the coin pocket...

It's had 4 recent tyres, passed an MOT with a new lower arm on the driver's side, I can't think what else it could be - I always thought it was tyre balance?

Also, I have a grinding noise that is louder when turning laft, and almost silent when turning right - driveshaft or bearing? It may be assiciated with a clunking noise when I go over low speed bumps or turn tightly.

Sorry for all the questions, just want it to drive as well as it should!

Thanks guys.

Check the following

Wheels are fitted correctly and nuts are all tight. i.e. wheels not slightly skew-whiff on the studs.

Jack up (probably one corner at a time if you only have the standard jack) and check wheels not wobbling - wheel bearing

Go to your friendly independent tyre fitter and ask them to balance your wheels - probably do that for a small sum in cash.
In fact they will probably do step 1 and 2 for you at the same time.
