I had doubts about posting this one but having been in a z3 on a scorcher the aircon was definitely better ,when stationary, than blowing cold air in a motor without aircon.

I have a Chim with A/C, and I have used it with the roof off. It <b>does</b> make a difference.

Without it the fans blow hot air and it's only the movement of air that feels slightly better. On the move, no you can't tell, except for on your knuckles of you have the vents aimed at them.

After buying mine I thought the pitiful difference it makes in hot weather wasn't worth the power, weight and engine bay space it was using. It's not until you've spent 30 minutes sat next to a 5litre V8 with big exhausts stuck in traffic with water at 95C+ the radiator fan blowing hot air in your direction and your air con broke that you appreciate that small difference.

Unfortunately - or fortunately (as I have both) TVRs and BMWs are very different animals. One does what it says on the tin, the other excites. And that's why we have the latter.

We've got aircon in our Chimaera too. As already mentioned it *does* make a difference even with the roof off.

Other benefits: quick demisting; cooler with the roof on (when it's TOO hot outside); also fires up one of the radiator fans when the otter switch is broken!
