Looking at going on a rally which will involve driving all the way down through France to Biarritz and back. About 2000k in a straight line. Question is how much boot space do I need to leave free for spare parts, I am thinking quite a lot. But then where do I stick the booze... Hmmm

If it’s a blast down to Biarritz then no more than usual, if a bit more heavy duty the list is endless. If the former then last year on a blast to Italy I took spare coolant hose/clips, various size/length (Coiled inside the spare wheel) the usual torch, spare bulbs, fuses, triangle, first aid kit, hi viz jacket (stored in front of the spare wheel) tool box on boot floor, a few spark plugs, coil, ht leads, spare dizzy (Just fitted a new one) in a plastic container, fan belt oil and water and tyre foam all stuffed behind the wheel arches. This left the boot relatively free for a couple of soft bags plus we had one larger behind the seat secured to the roll bar.
Managed to get sufficient booze back home as well
Cheers
Hamish

PS Spotted this recently, not sure its any good for the wedge but looking at how much the girlfriend wanted to pack last year it maybe an option for the next euro blast http://www.boot-bag.com/toppage1.htm

Boot bag looks great, but we were able to pack for 2 weeks on the road, plus ice box and 20 litres of spare fuel / spare oil / belts / plus and tools in the TVR. rear parcel shelf holds more than 50 litres, is more secure and as long as you use the space under the passengers legs for essentials in a small day sack, you can even take yoru camera too smile

I stick a bootrack on held on by a lorry ratchet strap

Then stik the Tent on there, leaving the boot for bags and sleeping bags

Just booked the ferry's, looks like its on. Here is a link to the rally we are doing, note the lack of first place by any TVR's. Best I change that..
