Seafood platter, set it on ice to keep it fresh, big crab claws, oysters, langoustine etc.

Blin with various toppings including foie and truffles.

Roast a fillet of beef then carve at table, maybe ham on the bone again carve at the table.

Tomatoe and Mozzarella salade dressed with good Balsamic and olive oil.

I'd lean towards using good quality in season ingrediants.

Deserts, a variety of lots of indidual minis, from trifles to cheesecakes, pavlovas to creme brulee, all home made.

What he said.

But, edge away from 'classy'; for the same money as a seafood platter for 20, you can:

-buy a smoker
-buy a 10lb pork shoulder
-buy 4 racks of spare ribs
-buy the rub ingredients
-buy some cheapo white buns

And 15 hours after cooking began, serve a proper pit-bbq feast of ribbies and pulled pork sandwiches. I'm telling you, that 'classy' thing is overrated!

fk it, just a massive plate of Sashimi cloud9

Anyway, more in season how aboute some delicate asparagus and prosciutto bundles? Feta stuffed peppers?

Then something with anchovies for everyone to turn their nose up at laugh
Unless it's just (non salted) anchovies in oil yum

Seared fillet steak carpaccio with parmesan shavings, rocket, capers and balsamic on a massive serving dish. Salt and chili squid and prawns. Mini Yorkshire puddings with rare roast beef and horseradish. 5kg of goose fat roast potatoes and a bowl of cous cous containing sauteed onions, peppers, stock, fresh parsley, roasted cashews, sun dried tomatoes and ground cumin seeds.

As well as a few sausage rolls, just in case!
