A mate of mine reckons that this is the best thing since sliced bread. I have never seen it.

So, in anticipation of S2 starting tonight on BBC4 (10.30pm), is it any good? Worth a watch or not?

That's enough of a recommendation for me, I'll tuck in.

As PH's resident king of TV comedy I will say:

It's ver very very good.... but not quite great.

I may elaborate on this later.

O.K well then.

It is very funny alot of the time but at times it can drag a bit and sometimes it doesn't know if it is trying to be silly like Mighty Boosch or dry like The Office and seems to swing back and fourth which cause me to lose involvement.
The other slight problem is that the supporting cast are often funnier than the Conchords themselves (Rhys Derby as Murray, Mel and 'Dave' particularly are hilarious) which causes a little imbalance to the show some disinterest in the main characters after the supporting cast have had a great scene. Although in the second series the other cast members have been given more time and there own songs.

So it is very very very good and definately worth watching and buying (I have) but due to the things above it is not quite in the league of greatness with stuff like Father Ted, Spaced and Arrested Development

PH's King of Comedy has spoken, this is my decree. wink

He's right.

I wondered why there wasn't a thread on it yet, thanks for starting it.

Ps. watch it from the start of the 1st season through - will make more sense and the characters get better and better each episode smile

I suspected as such - his other favourites are The Sopranos, The Wire & Curb Your Enthusiasm, so he doesn't suffer sh!te gladly.

My friends are very into this show, and I was subjected to it the other day for far too long. Sure, it is funny in places, but I wouldn't go out of my way to watch it and sometimes it just drags and drags, and for me it doesn't do it in the funny way that some other shows can do. Just my opinion!
