Just returned (sunburnt) from Barra (via the long route - ferries/roads etc)

Haven't sifted through them all yet, but here are a few that jumped out.

And here's the nudge - it's for those (and you know who you are) that live in lowland Scotland. Wait for good weather then catch the plane from Glasgow to the beach on Barra, and stay at the Isle of Barra Hotel (they pick you up from the airport... sorry beach). A STUNNING location, and for you guys only 30 mins away! (It HAS to be sunny though).

Making me look forward to my summer holibags even more after seeing them Steve (we're doing the Western Isles for the main part of the 2 week break).

I leave Aachen late this Friday night and after attending the big Monaro owners drag day meet in Long Marston we're heading up North to your neck of the woods for the following week to hit the likes of Glencoe, Glen Etive, Applecross and a few days on Skye (to see the South and East sides of the Island after doing the West and North last time round).

mm Lovely as always..

I'm still on for Lewis / Harris late next week - assuming I can get the front of the Landrover back together, the replacement intercooler fits and the EGR bypass all goes to plan.

Hoping for nice calm weather.. It's only a reccie anyway for a trip later in the year.

Will do Steve, from memory think we've planned to be around the Shieldaig/Torridon area on Thursday afternoon after Applecross and before crashing (not literally) in Kyle for the night to make the start on Skye easier to do smile

Steve, what cameras do you use? especially the camera for the wide shot? Do you use a panoramic camera and roll film? Or are you using digital and cropping the image?

Nice pictures as always

I used to use the Hasselblad X pan panoramic, but I hated the faff of film, so now I use only digital. I quite often take a photo knowing full well that I'm going to crop it down.

Those shots were taken with the Nikon D3, Nikon D2X and the Leica D-Lux 4.

The wide shot of the oyster catchers was taken with one of the big Nikons, the wide shot of me' dog was taken with the leica.

Just booked our final few nights on the Islands for the first two weeks of August, really looking forward to it, and finally get to visit where my Grandpa grew up on South Uist too smile

2 weeks total between Skye, Lewis, Harris, Uists and Barra - Mrs Baz I think is already trying to pack her case at the moment even though it's almost 2 months away yet!!!

Excellent. Check out the Rodel Hotel on the southern tip of Harris... sitting outside there with a beer in the sun is just great.... and make sure you check out the beaches at Luskentyre and Scarista. Also, as mentioned, the Barra hotel is well worth a visit. Buy a drink in the bar, walk outside and sit here to drink it!

Just pray for sunshine!
