I have a 93 1.6 import mx5 which I brought a few months ago. Really loving it . However, a 7 type car has always been my dream and i notice that the mx5 is now a SDV for both westfield and MNR. So, before i put money into the mx5 do i instead start saving for a kit?

One thing i am not sure about is the true cost. Westfield kit is about £6500 and the mnr looks similarly priced all in. Excluding givens such as IVA cost, van hire etc. what is the true on the road price likely to be for each?

Assuming i build one, will i be constrained if (when) looking to upgrade? Aftermarket uprights seem to be the widely used ford dimensions for example. Thanks.

I'd be looking at a Cyana Cars MX500 first. Not sure if he is still making the MX5 Single donor version as he was changing it (possibly to 3-series??) but with a bit of persuasion he may make one. Good aero on the car compared to 7's so with your limited power you should get a good top speed, and they are preeeeeety.

Definitely a nice looking car, but I'd say there's more than a hint of Fury in there!

Chris, that's because it is a Phoenix with a Fury rear end! Well, technically it is a Phoenix rear end, but that was used on the Fury later. And to begin with it was a Striker Mk4 I think, which became the Phoenix.... It's all a bit confusing really...
