Always makes me smile when you hear it rumbling around in the back ground when they are looking at the starting grid etc on the telly .... the sounds..... g/f thinks I'm mad... (well it's not just that )

Went Silverstone last year. On the thursday we tried to get into the circuit after hearing something nice going round. Couldn't get in and were told it was the safety car. On hearing an F1 car......you would not believe how loud they are. Stood at club corner on the apex and even with ear plugs it was still uncomfortable. They aren't as clean as you would expect, they do blow back quite a bit(Not sure if thats the correct term really).

best sound in F1? easy. a ford cosworth dfv 3 litre v8 screaming away down the old hanger straight @ silverstone back in the days of proper F1 crs & not these pathetic 2.4 litre things they drive these days.

That's why I've always preferred the noise of the V10's, it's always a much purer sound rather than the screaming V8's. The saftey car sounds amazing though
