I have the answer... at least IMO.

'The Cumburgring' - Around Coniston and Windermere in the Lake District, Cumbria.

Google Maps link

I can't decide whether it should be clockwise or anti-clockwise but they're fantastic roads... when I become PM it'll be implemented.

The 12.9 miles of the Nordschleife isn't long enough, this bad boy is 36 miles. It will need bypasses for Coniston and Ambleside (sorry Bowness, you're being used for the paddock area)

I did that drive last year while we (me n her)were staying in Windermere. It's a very good route with some real twisty bits and some great scenery. Main problem was other traffic, things like camper vans and coaches, not a lot of room to overtake on many of the roads.

As for you becoming PM and turning it into the UK version of the Ring, gets my vote thumbup

+1

Although could we have another version down south? Maybe stick barriers at either end of the A507 and a few marshalling posts to scoop up the bikers.

A southern one also gets my vote, I'm from the north originally hence why I know the road but now live in Bristol.

is there a simple/straightforward way of getting that route into Tyre/TomTom without replotting it?

Dartmoor?

When I used to go up there training for Ten Tors the tourists were gone and all we'd see were people going like the clappers. I'm fairly sure some people test race bikes for things like the TT up there.

If you're referring to the Lake District route then it's a pretty easy route to follow.

Depending where you start from do:
Greenodd via Coniston to Ambleside
then
Ambleside via Bowness-on-Windermere to Greenodd

May I nominate the "Tour of Loch Tay" as the version to keep the haggis bashers quiet?

Nobody else childish enough to suggest the "Cumburgring" sounds like "Come Buggering", a polite local name for a convenient dogging spot?

Just me then...
