Out of interest does anyone know if they would do a better price if you took a car with a manual box?

I did look at doing this with a manual box and it made a marginal difference but as the residual is better with the dct it wasn't as much as I expected.

I was looking about a month ago so can't remember all the details, but I think that the deal was only available on cars within the network and already built, I don't think there were any build slots available to spec your own car.

Best thing is to speak to a dealer and see what they can do. In the end I didn't like the terms of the contract hire and opted to lease a pre-registered saloon (which I wanted anyway rather than the coupe).

yes it was for in stock only; DCT was purely there to make the chance of finding a car more likely by the dealer as there were more in the UK system at the time...speak to dealers, I'm sure there's deals on moving non-pre reg metal right now...

The fact you can pick up a manual M3 the same age as a DCT for a good £10k cheaper used gives you your answer.

The DCT is much more desirable for many and so holds its value far better.

So has to be DCT and 19's to get the deal.

Not at all. I have gone this route and specced the car as I wanted it (manual) and have a great deal.

Of course each dealer can decide if they want to take the gamble as well, but the £550 a month offer backed by BMW UK on any shortfall is only for cars with DCT and 19's.

Care to share what the deal was and where you got it? PM me if you don't want it public. TIA.

All these cars are now sold. I thought I was getting one and the dealer let me down.

I could choose manual or DCT, depending what was available.

Cheers

Hi all - newbie posting.

I went for this offer, I think I was lucky and got one of about three or four cars left and even luckier in that the spec was what I was looking for, comfort access was the only thing I didn't get.

I've only managed 400 miles this week so I'm nowhere near run in yet. As such I can't really make many meaningful observations on the car, but I am pretty chuffed with it.

While running in I'm leaving the DCT full auto - however, I don't want to get lazy and get used to it that way! It's uncanny but in full auto it's smoother than the 730 auto I've just come from, AND the ride's better. So for me it does the 7's job better than the 7, which surprises me. Mind you I did always think that the Sport suspension on the 7 spoiled the ride. And at last, a car which doesn't sound like a tractor.

I do like the adaptive headlights, having thought they were a gimmick I think they're great in use. And I'd recommend the USB link, definitely.

The only thing I'm not 100% on is the Jerez Black, but the wife didn't like any other colour, so I'd had it on that one! Oh and being referred to as c*ck by your mates isn't nice, but who knows, maybe they called me that before and now they just feel OK about telling me...
