ok bought a superking bed only to find it doesnt go up the stairs, the shop points out in the small print its not their problem but offers to change it but the new one has to be the same value, I then pick another base etc only for the shop to say we cannot get that one anymore and are unable to acutally offer a replacement. Now do i have any rights as they took the bed back and technically its not been delivered ?, it seams odd they will offer a replacement but not a refund ?, any ammo you chaps can give so i can go and have a bun fight !

bloomin was !!!! well the room size was fine but the builders of new house whilst giving me a very large bedroom dont give it on the turn on the stairs, i asked in the shop how do they get it there and the reply was its in two parts ( the bed base ), must admit never thought anymore after that until the day they tried to get it up there

Your mistake - legally they don't have to do anything to help you.

I don't know about your "rights", but surely you do have a responsability to measure up first and see if it will fit?

the problem was i didnt measure the bases just the overall bed size , thing is because of the turn of the stairs the length of the base split is fine its the base hoght that is the problem preventing the turn..... new house ! like to ask builder why give me a big bedroom and then compromise on the stairs... grrr

Could the base be looked at by a chippy to split it and reformed afterwards?

I've done this before when we lived in a place where no standard base was going to get up regardless of model.

I'm pretty sure in this situation you have the right to remain silent.

Check the sale of goods act, pretty sure it gives a two week cooling off period. The contract of sale is prety worthless unless it was special order.

Wrong. The sale of goods act does not give a two week cooling off period, but other consumer law does give cooling off periods. You cannot get a refund as there isn't anything wrong with the bed. If the bed was faulty or misdescribed to you then you would have a chance under section 13 or 14 of the sale of goods act. Your mistake unfortunatley, and the shop do not have to provide any recourse for you. Ypur lucky if they do offer you anything.

Doubt there will be any come back on the shop, you've made your bed, you're going to have to lie in it.
