Proper Sunday Pub Lunch - Warks/Worcestershire
Discussion
Hello.
Some suggestions would be much appreciated her.
I want to take Lady B.J.W out for Sunday Lunch this weekend, but can't seem to find anywhere decent. All I want is to find a proper, traditional village pub that is not part of chain, does not have buy 1 get 1 free offers on food, does not have a wacky warehouse attached and serves a decent pint of independent brewery bitter.
When I was younger my village pub was great. The food was all cooked fresh by a proper chef using local produce, my beef was rare and my roast potatos and yorkshire pudding were crispy and delicious.
Does this utopia no longer exist?
Can PH help?
Will I ever find a pub that serves up a top notch sunday roast with all of the trimmings in a nice rural setting.
So, if you know of anywhere that you have tried that does the above then please let me know. Ideally within 15 miles or so of Redditch/Bromsgrove.
Thanks in advance.

many moons ago I used to work at the Bulls Head in Wootton Wawen. It was an ace little pub that was always booked out for 1-2 weeks in advance.
The daily specials were always good news and the fresh fish was aclaimed by local press and some cheff or other.
no idea if it is still any good.

Just asked a local I work with and she said....
The Ewe and Lamb is supposed to be good, on Hanbury Road, just outside Bromsgrove
and
The Queens Head Inn in Stoke Pound, not too far away either
Personally I like The Littleton Arms in Hagley/Clent, but that might be a bit too far away for you?

Thanks Anna. Both the Ewe and Lamb and Queens Head Inn are a short drive for me and I have eaten at both. The Ewe is a bit more 'pubby' than the Queens Head, but neither have the 'proper sunday lunch' that I remember from my local. The Fountain at Clent looks ideal. I think I used to shoot round that neck of the woods a few years back. Will definitely check it out. Thanks DontfollowMe
I know the Swan at Chaddesley but have never eaten there. Thanks again for the suggestion, and thanks for the other recommendations from everyone who posted. Much appreciated.
Oh, and we are trying out the Wagon Wheel at Grimley (other side of Ombersley). A few people away from PH have said it's worth a try. Heading there tomorrow, so I will let you know my thoughts and local PHers can add it to there list of places to try if they wish.

Dear B.J.W,
the Swan, Birlingham.
Beware, it will end up as a session, you'll meet someone you haven't seen for ages and the day will disappear. Well it did for me last time I visited, one of those great unplanned social things
