Just started the process of getting some prices before purchasing a car - some interesting results.

Asked for price on 2006 6.0 Monaro VXR no Mods - i'm 42 Male, no claims, convictions, living in Bedfordshire.

Best prices:-

More Than £397
Priviledge £434
Tesco £520

And the hardest one to get a sensible price from

Adrian Flux £660 (Loads of questions including:- Are you sure its a UK car, never heard of one of those before, and the best.. have you ever driven a car this powerful before !! - told her yes MKIV TT Supra etc etc and went away for another 5 minutes to discuss i presume)

Guess the field gets a lot thinner when i mention Mods - perhaps AF comes into play at that point, but not a particularly good start from them.

At least i know i can afford to insure it - so now all i've got to do is find one cash is burning a damn big hole in my pocket

Dean.

Just payed a smidge under £900 for my VXR500, aged 31 in Lytham St.Annes Lancs, clean license. That's with A-plan. I didn't shop around because I'm lazy, but I think that's a reasonable quote.

flucking hell those are steep prices - 42, car on driveway with limited miles (5k), tracker, clean licence, modded CV8, one of worst postcodes on insurance list and under 500 quid with admiral and thats with a fault claim 3 years ago when I slid into a tree with it.

I suspect that unfortunately your occupation has influenced that rate, however unjustified that may be.

Will be trying A Plan next renewal just in case wink

She must have been a newbie. The guy I got was OK, but you are right, you do get the Spanish inquisition as they fill out the paperwork. Still I suppose they have a job to do?

That's surprisingly expensive, I pay £950 with the following on my 6.0 VXR:

- Living in scummy Runcorn
- The car's parked outside
- No fancy alarm
- I do 12k a year
- I'm male and 28
- 5yrs ncb
- The car's got a declared after market exhaust and LPG conversion.

They don't like superchargers and points do they? I'm with APlan.

why not tell them you're a barmaid - you might save some dosh and you'd get to wear fishnets and mini skirt all week instead of just at the weekends rofl
