Whose been to the new Wembley?
Discussion
I'm going on the 25th May for the Championship Playoff final, it'll be my 1st time at the new venue. What are the views like, I don't want to pay for the cheap seats and end up 5 miles way from the action, but also I don't want to pay £98 for a ticket where there's someone sat 20 ft away who's paid 2/3rds of that!
So those who've been to sporting events there, where would you recommend sitting?
Seating and price plan
Also we're going in a minibus, where's the best place to park the fecker? Wembley parking is something like £25!

Was literally one row from the back and it wasn't anywhere near as good as the back of somewhere like the Millenium Stadium. Really, really rubbish. Didn't like it as a ground at all really. Stupidly expensive and designed for looks, not practicality.
Dodge the cheap seats if you can. They've deliberately designed it around the posh seats, but the £50 ones should be reasonable at the back of the bottom tier, would probably be my preference (though I've not been down there), though if you prefer to be down the side and don't want to spend too much, the front of the top tier is just about okay, barely; wouldn't say they're really worth the money in terms of anything other than avoiding being right at the back.
Back of the bottom tier, in the corner or behind the goal would be my option.
As for parking, the train service is reasonably good, so could be worth parking further out and getting the train in.

I'd agree with that. Park in Uxbridge or Hounslow and tube it in from there.
As for the seats, I paid for the cheap ones when my team made the playoff final in 2007. The players were like dots from up there (I was eight rows from the top) and the medium priced seats would have been much better.
Good luck, hope your team does better than mine did there!

Both times I've been I've sat towards the back of the lower tier; the view from here is pretty good.
Do not try to drive anywhere near Wembley - do the tube option as somebody else has posted. The traffic is a nightmare, even for coaches. Last time I went I was back in Oxford (tube/train) before my uncle, who was on one of the official coaches, had got more than a mile from the stadium.
Hope your team does better than mone at the new stadium (lost 1-0, twice)

I have been a few times, and tried a number of prices/seats to choose the best option. Been right at the back on the half way line.. great view of the game, no idea who had the ball! Also, last person out of the ground so 80k people infront of you in the Q for the tube..
We normally go for the Cat 2/3 seats. Somewhere towards the back of the bottom tier in the corners is pretty good. High enough to get some perspective on the game, but close enough to see who just scored! Closer to the front of the tube queue too.
One possibility for parking your minibus is the Green Man Pub (never parked there personally, just seen a few minibuses in there). Its just a short walk to the stadium, beers before and after, jobs a goodun.

Nice one Cliff...
I can hear the Leeds fans singing now...."Marching On To Nowhere...."
Now for a good day out at Wembley, Mart, last time I went there was the Auto windscreen game v Wigan in 99 - I hear it's changed since then. Win or lose It's going to be a cracking day out I can hear the Leeds fans singing now...."Marching On To Nowhere...."
As others have said, it's best to park on the outskirts and tube it in. I've always used Hillingdon tube station. It's on the A40 and it has a biggish car park, and about a 20min tube ride to Wembley Park. Carriages are usually empty as well as there are only a couple of stations before Hillingdon. You can book to reserve a parking spot http://www.ncpwembleyparking.co.uk, but this doesn't appear to be working. Not sure what street parking is like if the car park is full.
In my 3 visits the best seats I've had were in the top half of lower tier. I think I was in the last red priced block before it changes to the green priced blocks.
Getting away from the stadium can take a while as you queue down Wembley Way. Last time I went (NFL game last year) we were queued all the way back to the stadium. It probably took nearly an hour to get to the tube station.

Been a few times now.
The stadium is huge, so a back row seat will have a view compromised by distance but it is vastly superior to the old wembley in everyway. I think it is stunning.
Have to agree with the all about the parking. The only time I have driven I parked in one of the local businesses' car park for a tenner. Took 40 minutes to walk back to the car but those in the official car parks struggled for hours.
My advice would be tube or train (coming from the north we park at Rickmansworth then get the tube) and post match nip into one of the local hotels for a swift one or two let the madness die down and stroll leisurely to the tube pleasently merry.

I've been 3 times now.
1st time sat just off halfway line bottom tier about 20 rows back from the pitch. Of course I also got one of the best views in the house during the National Anthem stood leaning against the players tunnel wall chatting to the substitutes. (Before and after the anthem, I was silent through it ma'am)
2nd time was stood on the pitch (ok that wasn't a football match)
3rd time bottom tier behind the goal and the view was good, I reckon you're ok there Cliff.
The atmosphere is still crap thanks to that stupid corporate tier in the middle splitting the supporters up.
I'd go for the £62 behind the goal tickets.

Best of luck, still if you don't go up you'll get a nice visit to our away end next season!
Yep, that's it, the 8 or so steps betweent the two red barriers. Oh and you'll get a few seats in the Old Grandstand which rumour has it was crafted by Jesus and his old man around 20AD.

That's the only side of the ground I've not watched a match from. Had the joy of following Exeter the year they won what is now League Two, the great days of Rowbotham, Bailey, McNichol, Taylor, Hiley, Vinnicombe, Miller, Young et al and watched from both sides AND the Cowshed...
I've been 6 or 7 times (all footy matches). Sat right at the very time looking down the half way line, thought it was a brilliant view, like a overhead shot in Pro Evo, could see exactly what was going on (which seems at odds to other people's experiance above). The worst seat was the third row in the first tier (pitch level) - bloody TV cameramen stood up in the way for the whole match!
Cheers for all the info, I ended up getting seats behind the goal on the west side, about 14 rows back so they should be pretty reasonable.
We're seriously considering parking the mini-bus up somewhere like Uxbridge, although with 15 of it would be cheaper to get a parking space near the ground than get the tube, but it could be more convenient to just tube it in.
To stop the touters, you're only allowed a maximum of 2 seats per transaction so we're all scattered over various parts of the stadium and won't be sat together which is a bit of a shame.
