Is there anyway to turn off the park assist on an 09 plate BMW X5 when it's not needed.

It's driving me nuts when you stop near to something and it won't stop beeping and chiming.

The pdc should only come on once reverse is selected,it then stays on until you switch off or drive above 10mph. There is a button on the centre console switch pack that will switch it off and on,the buttons green light led comes on when pdc is active.

There's a button in that row in front of the gear stick that can turn it off each time it comes on. There's an option for it in the i drive which I assume would give you the facility to turn it off for good.
