Are there any Catalans on here?
Discussion
OK, it's a very, very niche question, but it wouldn't be the first time PH has produced results on one of those!
I have decided I want to learn Catalan. I can find lots of Catalan language courses, but they don't fit my requirements, as I already speak Spanish, and can read Catalan pretty much fluently too. What I can't do is speak it.
The ideal solution would be some sort of Catalan ex-pat club in London or something similar that I could gatecrash, initially to suck up the language and then start speaking it, but I'm not having much joy on google.
So, long shot question! Do we have any Catalan members on here living in the UK?

I'm kinda interested in this myself. My spanish isn't brilliant but I'd love to find a Spanish/Catalan bar or something where I can go watch the Champions League final since I'm a huge Barcelona fan.
I'm not expert on Catalan but I've been told it's a bit of a mix between French and Spanish so you probably won't find it very difficult

Exactly right. When I first went to live in Spain, the fact that I already spoke French initially made it far easier to understand than Spanish, but as I was there to learn Spanish, I deliberately didn't press the Catalan then, which I rather regret, as I know with hindsight that I could've come away fluent in both if I'd kept at it.
I'm just moving to Barcelona with work and will be learning Spanish. My colleague (who I now find out was a Minister in the Cataluyna Government) will tell me if there is anything in London. (Yesterday we were in Frankfurt and he went to a bar to Watch the Spanish cup final with lots of people he had never met)
As people have said, it's a mix of French and English, but is now more on the curriculum for Barcelona children

That would be great, thanks!T-J-K
With regards to kids learning it in Barcelona, it's actually the official first language for education there, so they learn Castillian Spanish more as a foreign language. Kind of like some schools in Wales, but more so!

I've asked my colleague here in Barcelona and he does not know of anything specific in London.
He was so impressed at you speaking Catalan though!!

To be fair, I don't actually speak it, and that's the part I'd like to remedy. I can understand it perfectly well, so it shouldn't be too hard.
