Hi People,

I've been thinking about what to replace my 944T with and i think an e34 M5 fits the bill.

4-5K enough to buy a solid, usable car?

any pointers for info on these, doesn't seem to be much on here.

cheers,

rick.

Never driven a 944 turbo but have owned a 968 and a e34 M5. Much prefer the Porsche, feels like a sports car all the time where as the M5 felt like a sorts car only when you pushed it.

Porsche cheaper to run as well, M5 does 20mpg at best!

M5 was great, never got away from the feeling though that it was a BIG bill just waiting to happen...

e34 M5 does 17mpg round town and will quite easily do 28mpg on a run - mine even managed to get back from the 'Ring to Colchester on one tank (admittedly due to not being able to rev above 3500rpm). My average over 100,000 miles was 22mpg, including track days where I got 6mpg.

Agree that they're not cheap to run as a daily driver though!

Remember they're only expensive to fix if they break.

Charlie, what colour is your 6er? Speaking to one of my mates at the pub last night, said he saw a well kept M635 around Woking with a 30ish scruffy looking bloke driving it? smile

Btw, I want a ride in your E34 sometime!

I've had both 5- and 6-speed boxes, and that trip back from the 'Ring was with a 5-speed box in a 1990 3.6.
