Howabout starting a Wedge thread...'Non-factory extras' ?

I'll start it off:

  • self-opening glovebox
  • self-closing bootlid
  • fully adjustable footwell carpets (not nailed down)
  • aerodynamic aerial (snapped off)
  • safety cigar lighter (no power)
  • diffused light rear window
  • barbeque facility in boot (3inch hole cut over tailpipe)
  • anti-theft radio (left at home)
  • custom front screen (bullet hole in it)
  • light-weight front (no chin spoiler)

I'll add one to the list.

Self removing targa hood section.

One time barreling down the highway I hit a bump and the targa panel flew off my roof. biggrin
Luckily there was nobody behind me to run over it. After backing up and retrieving the thing,
I checked the "over center" lock bars... fully locked and still in place.

Must be, I don't have one. Should we get discount for washer jet LED's?

I have to admit to almost missing my exit once.. The off ramp was covered with a thin layer of gravel and a lot shorter than had been anticipated. Suffice it to say that with both feet on the middle pedal and all my might pushing the inability of stopping power to lock the wheels saved my bacon.

Has anyone locked their wheels in a Wedge ?

My brakes seem pretty good (and progressive) on the whole, but did get a twitch at the back end
when slamming on at about 100+ at the end of the dragstrip. Don't think anything locked up though.

Depends what speed your talking about! My brakes are really quite good, never had a problem with them..

I had mintex road/track pads on until a short while which were great apart from could never get them to stop squealing!!

Put standard pads on this summer...im sure they will cook down the Stelvio pass!!! yikes

Locking the front wheels no problem, especially when it is wet out there. But have uprated 300mm 4pot stuff with good feedback/feel up front which is great. On tracks the back is smoking a lot as not having sorted any ducting of air to them..... yet.

Stelvio or any other serious road or track: would recommend mintex fast road (not track), ferrodo fast road or fast ebc stuff for the road. Standard stuff you probably won't have a lot of fun and need to wait for it to cool down (if you drive wedge style)before it is save to be able to continue. Taking it very easy probably will be fine, but would that be fun? And brake fluid is crucial as well as you know. DOT 5.1 or the latest improved DOT 4 (plus? it is sometimes called) helps a lot when it all gets heated up to serious levels.
