whats going to happen here then???
Discussion
A rather unusual series of events unfolded at my golf club at the weekend during the spring medal, unfortunatly in my absense. The result was a number of "chav's", for lack of a better word, being hospitalised when trying to steal golf clubs from the members who happened to be on the 15th tee at the time. Since then the police have become involved, seemingly arresting both golfers and the family of the youth's.

In my opinion it is surely a case of would-be attackers getting some of their own medicine but it seems that the powers that be seem to be arresting the people that were origionally attacked...is this normal and now typical of the state of the country?
What do you think will actually happen to both the golfers and chav's, i would hate to see people prosecuted for simply defending themselves and their property....
Either way i hope the chav's learn the hard way, i am playing again in a few days time and if they, or their mayes dare try it they will be ending in the same place.

Kids will get to sue the people who hit them with golf clubs.
The golfers will get charged with assault.
Sh!t isn't it.
Surely its a bit out of order considering they were approaching them with sections of 2x4The golfers will get charged with assault.
Sh!t isn't it.

Of course it is out of order, depends on what a judge decides. I can see which many go.
To think you go and play golf to relax and that happens. It's the exact opposite of a relaxing experience. The kids are doubtless scumbags, but battering them round the head with golf clubs will probably be seen to be too much retaliation. I would have probably taken out their knees. Still incredibly painful and incapacitating but injured legs doesn't sound as bad as head injuries.
So.
A bunch of "kids" tresspass onto private property (the golf course), threaten some people who were legitimately there with improvised weapons (the planks) and it's the golfers that get arrested?
Absolutely f
ked up...unless there's a load of stuff we don't know that went on.
Lets hope the judge is a keen golfer, eh?

Did any of you read the story?
You are quoting as if only the golfers were arrested.
I am afraid to say that in a situation like this, if the police arrive and the fight is on-going, there are no independent witnesses and cross allegations then everyone gets lifted.
Everyone gets interviewed and then a prosecution decision is made.
I am in no way defending the idiots trying to steal the golf clubs, however before climbing on your high horses just take a minute to consider that the officers have arrived at an on-going fight - you can tell that by what some of the arrests are for - and broken it up. Do you think the fight ended immediately the police arrived? With one of the arrest being for disorderly conduct I would say not.
It has been this way for a long time.

In a situation like this, can you come to station and answer questions without being lifted? As an arrest then marks you up and is on your record, I think? You are quoting as if only the golfers were arrested.

When i was younger (11-17) i used to play golf on a course where the little feckers did this.
Things such as, wait for someone to hit a tee shot, then run onto the fairway, grab said persons ball, pull a mooney & leg it again!
They also used to come onto the course & just play or steal peoples clubs.
It got so bad that many a time people would chase after them swinging putters & the such.
The club decided to employ some sort of security guard.
Needless to say it was bloody amusing to watch 2 of them handcuffed to the back of a golf buggy whilst shoutign and swearing before being arrested!

You do get arrested for self defence these days and they will push it all the way as you are a detected crime. They will only let go if they don't have enough evidence but with claim and counter claim here being he/said she/said etc then probably end up with a caution and criminal record.
There's always the IPCC afterwards . . .

This is the problem with an arrest. It's permanent.
So even if you get arrested on suspicion of something you didn't do you were still arrested. There are records, possibly DNA. You'll be explaining it to people for the rest of your life.
Of course: We don't know the whole story...
Indeed, everytime you are pulled. So even if you get arrested on suspicion of something you didn't do you were still arrested. There are records, possibly DNA. You'll be explaining it to people for the rest of your life.
Of course: We don't know the whole story...
'Are you known to us'
'Yes arrested for assault'
Instantly MOST coppers attitudes will change towards you.

When people are arrested then released without charge because it is proved they weren't guilty they should have their good name reinstated as a matter of course..
