1/4 Mile Times
Discussion
I'm currently sizing up the competition against a wortec carbon edition (or similar wortec tune)
Just looking in evo (www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/cargrouptests/227415/mercedesbenz_c63_amg_v_bmw_m3_saloon.html)
They had the C63 AMG do the 1/4 mile in 12.9 and a real world 0-60 of 4.7 and 0-100 of 10.3
Now apparently the wortec carbon edition is claimed at 0-60 of 4.5 and 0-100 of 9 !!
meaning that with a terminal speed of 113mph on the 1/4 mile run, the Wortec should be well into the 12s
But ive not seen any sub 13 second 1/4 mile times. Has anybody managed it ? or has the C63 got an unfair advantage due to being an auto ?

If the weather holds out this sat then you will be able to see times for al sorts of variations of tune/VXR8/Monaro as we are going the shakesperes raceway for a drag day!!!

The only potential flaw is that decent times, especially in a manual, depend almost entirely on driver skill at launching and are not a reflection on the cars ability. The terminal speed is a good indicator of actual power.

Maybe an automatic Nissan Micra would be more suitable for you guys?

I'll have you know I was making that excuse when I first said I was up for coming to the event!! At least I'm consistent
Bit like the dyno day, I prefer to play it down and if it comes good (ie I miss the armco and get a good time) great!

Yes it has an advantage. That why all drag cars have auto boxes.Just looking in evo (http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/cargrouptests/227415/mercedesbenz_c63_amg_v_bmw_m3_saloon.html)

We have a guy V8HSV on here with a GTS-R modded who has done a 12.3 (FI-M6)) IIRC. S600VXR has done a 12.4 (FI -M6) Crestaracing has done a 12.5 (NA M-6) and I have a 12.7@116 (NA A4)
Where's that Merc?
500rwhp is crazy power and going to require going forged surely ? as it will be 700 + at the fly ?
I'm trying to find out how quick an out of the box wortec car with 630bhp will be
Evo timed the C63 AMG at 12.9 over the 1/4 mile with ET 113mph. So yes it did just scrape 12s
My point was that the claimed 0-100 for the wortec is 9s, vs the tested 10.3 0-100 for the C63.
Given the 1 second difference in 0-100 times, id expect a 630 bhp VXR8 to be running below the 12.9 the C63 ran. Just wondering if anybody with a wortec VXR8 with 630bhp (same as the carbon edition) has tried it to compare ?

With sticky tyres, terminal speeds will drop a little, as will ET's

Well one vxr8 was 480rwhp odd on the dyno day, I managed 454rwhp untuned (2nd placed vxr8), plus Ive not seen what an LS3 SC does, should be fairly healthy. So it wont be long before someone hits 500. That being said mine is forged NA. Losses are around 20% or so, maybe only 650fwhp is required for 500rwhp.
Im aiming at 500rwhp, Im now half tuned, just spark timing to go. If I dont quite make it a review of camshaft profiles will be done! But Im confident its doable as it is with natural aspiration
